cluster of roaches GERMAN COCKROACHES (blattella germanica) are Public Enemy # 1 of the roach world.Under ideal conditions, one male and one female can be responsible for the production of between 450,000 and 1,000,000 roaches in one year. Ideal harborage space for a German cockroach is about 3/16 “.

According to the latest research, approximately 80% of children’s allergies in urban areas have been linked to the presence of cockroaches.  Cockroach excrement and cast skins contain several allergens.Cockroaches cause building fires.  They congregate in electrical boxes inside walls and when they bridge the wires, short circuiting results

In a pinch, cockroaches can eat just about anything – including each other, cockroach fecal pellets, glue, and the dirt off of soiled laundry.  They can merely survive by eating these weird things. They can’t thrive.  Proper sanitation practices are critical!

AMERICAN COCKROACHES, also known as “water bugs” or “palmetto bugs,” are the second most problematic roach behind the German Cockroach.

By the way, American, Oriental and German cockroaches DID NOT originate in these places.  Most cockroach species can be traced back to beginnings in tropical and sub-tropical Africa about 350-400 million years ago. Cockroaches spend over 90% of their lives in their harborage area.  They only come out for three reasons:  food/water, overpopulation, or treatment.Cockroaches cannot rest, or mate, out in the open.

A cockroach egg case (ootheca) is almost impenetrable.  Egg cases have been immersed in concentrated pesticides for days at a time.  When they are taken out, the baby roaches (nymphs) still emerge.  Pesticides cannot penetrate the egg case!

Corbett Exterminating’s environmentally friendly pest control program that is completely free of harsh pesticides.  Our cockroach and ant elimination program has proven to be the model for pest control treatments of the future and the envy of pest control companies throughout the Mid-Atlantic States.  No sprays or fogs are used and the entire program is low profile and minimally invasive.

Initial CEMIT Treatments, corrective treatments comparable to “cleanouts,” performed at various housing complexes have averaged a 98% kill.  Follow Up Treatments, detailed monitoring and thorough inspections assure that pests are no longer a nuisance.  Preventive CEMIT Treatments keep pests in check between scheduled treatments.
